10 Days from Marrakech Relaxing Trekking

This relaxing trekking programme lets you leave everyday life behind. Immerse yourself in the fascination and beauty of the desert. You will get to know the life of the Berbers and nomads. You will be travelling for approx. 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. Time to relax and enjoy the Sahara to the full. Our guides cook traditional food for you and we sleep in small tents or under the open sky with thousands of stars. We travel in small groups.

Day 1 Arrival

We pick you up from Marrakech airport and take you to a beautiful riad for overnight stay.

Day 2 Drive to Mhamid

In the morning we start from your riad and head towards the High Atlas Mountains. We cross the Tizin Tichka Pass with approx. 2.260 m. On the way we take some breaks to take pictures and to enjoy the landscape of the Atlas region.

We visit the famous and well-preserved Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The Kasbah from the 17th century is the backdrop of numerous Hollywood films.

After the Kasbah visit, we reach Ouarzazate where there are some active film studios. Afterwards we continue to the green Draa river valley, which is lined with thousands of palm trees. We go to Mhamid and from there directly to the desert for our first night in the Sahara.

Day 3 Mhamid - Lahnanich

After breakfast, we take our path beside our new companions (dromedaries) and head towards the sand dunes of Zahar. After 2 hours of walking, lunch break will be under a shady palm tree. After we enjoy a cup of tea, we hike to our first night camp in Lahnanich sand dunes, we set up our small camp. Dinner around the camp fire and the night under the stars.. B/L/D

Day 4 Lahnanich - Erg Zmaila

From Lahnanich to Erg Ezzmaila, we cross an area with more sand dunes and less trees. After the first 2 hours of walking, we stop for the lunch break before walk deep for another 2 hours to reach the sea of sand named Erg Zmaila, our overnight place. We enjoy the fantastic landscape and sunset on one of the most beautiful sand dunes in Morocco and look forward to a traditional dinner around the camp fire. B/L/D

Day 5 Erg Zmaila - Erg Zahar

After the sunrise, breakfast is served in the open air. We head towards the dunes of Erg Zahar which are one of the highest dunes in Morocco. After 4 hours walking and hiking on the dunes with several stops on the way, we arrive to our destination and we set up our camp for the night. The lunch break and the rest of the day is yours to climb the big dunes for a breathtaking sunset view. The night is always around fire and under the stars. B/L/D

Day 6 Erg Zahar - Erg Ait Ounir

Our current destination is the impressive dunes of Erg Ait Ounir. A beautiful large group of dunes stretching around with many very old Tamarisk trees. Experience a new dimension of tranquility and serenity during the sunset on these dunes. Lunch meal on the way, and camping in the middle of the dunes with the night entertainment around fire. B/L/D

Day 7 Erg Ait Ounir - Lbour

After a restful night and a hearty breakfast, we start our way back to Mhamid, the gateway to the desert crossing the Daraa valley again. After about 2 hours trekking, we stop for the lunch break on the way before get to our final point in Lbour. Later, our team will set up the camp for the last night in the desert. Dinner and music around fire.. B/L/D

Day 8 Lbour - Mhamid

The last day, one last chance to experience the sunrise in the Sahara. After breakfast, we take our way back to Mhamid. We pass small dunes. After 2 hours of trekking we stopp for our last lunch. In the afternoon we reach our fixed camp where you can enjoy a hot shower. B/L/D

Day 9 Mhamid - Marrakech by Bus

In the early morning, we take you to the bus station. The CTM bus departs at 6.00 am and arrives at Marrakech at around 3 p.m. We go to our riad and enjoy this fabulous city for the rest of the day. -/-/-

Day 10 Return flight

Or you can stay a few more days in Marrakech and be enchanted by the flair of a thousand and one night. B/-/-
