Sahara Offroad-Tour

Day 1 Marrakech - Mhamid (Erg Lihoudi)

In the morning, we pick you up from your riad and head towards the High Atlas Mountains. We cross the Tizin Tichka Pass with approx. 2.260 m. We make photo stops and breaks to explore the landscape of the Atlas region.

We visit the famous and well-preserved Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The Kasbah from the 17th century is the backdrop of numerous Hollywood films. We stop for our lunch.

The journey continues to Ouarzazate, where there are some active film studios.

Later and after 3 hours of driving over the Anti Atlas and along the Draa valley with thousands of date palms, we get to Zagora as the last big city before the desert.

Afterwards, we continue to Mhamid in a road which goes through some little villages in the middle of the palm groves. Later, we reach the camp of Erg Lihoudi as our last destination, dinner & night in a nomad tent.  -/-/D

Day 2 Mhamid (Erg Lihoudi) - Erg Chegaga

After a nice breakfast in the open air depending on the weather, you start your camel ride, for a distance of 10 kms towards the village of Mhamid. After, we take you with 4x4 car and drive deep through the Sahara show you the landscape of the beautiful desert before arriving to the Sacred Oasis. It is an Oasis of tens of palm trees around the desert with a source of water running the whole year. It is a great place where the nomads come with their animals. We will have a picnic in a nice place, also in the camp depending on the weather.  After another 15kms, we arrive to the dunes of Chegaga, the amazing group of golden desert dunes stretching for 40 km and reaching a height of 300 meters. After a cup of mint tea and some nuts are offered, it is time to climb the sand dunes to enjoy the sunset.  A traditional nomad dinner and music around fire is waiting for you. Overnight in a typical tented camp, surrounded by the dunes of the Sahara. B/L/D

Day 3 Erg Chegaga - Taznakht - Marrakech

Departure in the morning after breakfast, we start our day by car along the old track of the Paris-Dakar rally, through the dried up salty lake of Iriki. We stop in a very old fossil place leaving the desert and sand dunes behind. Lunch in Tazenakht, a famous Berber carpet town. Return to Marrakesh via the high Atlas mountains towards evening. B/-/-
