1 Night Erg Chegaga Sand Dunes

Day 1 Mhamid - Erg Chegaga

This short trip is a search for a new experience.

It is an adventure for travelers who do not have much time to visit the Sahara. Start is in Mhamid, gateway to the desert, destination is the famous dunes of Erg Chegaga.

The journey begins in the morning driving straight into the true, huge Sahara. First, we drive about 10 km along small dunes and tamarisk trees. The area changes into a different landscape with acacia trees (Hammada), then we reach a sacred oasis with a source of water that runs all year round. A good place for a break and to explore the oasis.

Later, we continue our way to Erg Chegaga for lunch. The rest of the day is yours since the dunes are just at your feet. A beautiful large group of dunes stretching over a length of 40 km and up to 300 m high. Enjoy this beautiful landscape on a 1 hour camel ride. Experience a new dimension of tranquility and serenity during the sunset on the high dunes of Erg Chegaga. In the evening we meet at the camp fire for dinner with traditional music. Day 2: Erg Chegaga - Mhamid

Enjoy the sunrise in the dunes again. After breakfast, return to Mhamid. We take another road back driving through other landscapes and reach Mhamid at about 10 am. B/-/-
